Oracy Project

We are pleased to announce we will continue to work with Voice21 and schools across Berkshire to promote Oracy at Crown Wood.

Mrs Thomas completed the Oracy Pioneers Programme last year and Miss Bradshaw and Miss Trevarrow will do it this year.  The Oracy Pioneers Programme supports teachers to become expert oracy practitioners and equips them with practical tools and approaches to support them to develop a culture of high-quality talk in their classrooms and beyond.

As part of the leadership strand, they will become oracy champions, transforming their classrooms into beacons of best practice as well as supporting others to develop their classroom practice.

The school is already putting many oracy approaches into practice and children in Year 4 and Year 5 had opportunities to showcase their new skills to parents last year.

Developing oracy will be a significant focus of the school during the next year.  This will be aided by the introduction of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).  Our first INSET day will include an afternoon of oracy training.
