Pupil Premium – How do we use it?
Part of the salary costs of the Senco and inclusion manager.
Family Support Advisor salary to improve attendance and provide parenting support.
Additional support staff in classrooms.
Additional teaching staff to provide targeted teaching.
Learning resources i.e. books and specific resources for reluctant and more able readers and mathematicians.
Music lessons and insurance for able pupils so that they can practise at home.
Breakfast Club for specified children to improve attendance, punctuality and smooth transition into school.
Setting up of a dedicated nurture room, including resources and staffing.
Reading Recovery intervention.
Places in extra-curricular clubs.

Eligible children have faster and more targeted access when they need external support.
Attendance and punctuality have improved.
Parents are supported through Pyramid for Parents sessions and report a positive impact on
behaviour at home.
Teaching and support staff are able to monitor progress and attainment of children and can
dedicate time to helping them.
Targeted interventions have improved rates of progress for those children.
Children are able to make the most of school opportunities such as trips and music lessons.
Children are coming into school more ready to learn and we are seeing positive impacts on
classroom behaviour and self-esteemfor children who attend our Nurture groups.
Talented musicians have been given the opportunity to extend the music project and
are taking exams.
Extra resources and teaching time have meant that able mathematicians have represented
the school in maths competitions.
More children are taking part in after-school activities and enjoying sporting and

The Pupil Premium Grant is an additional funding paid to schools in respect of their pupils who have received free school meals in the last 6 years. These pupils are known as 'Ever6FSM.’ This group includes those children who are currently in receipt of free school meals, Children being Looked After (CLA) and children of service families.
Crown Wood School is a large primary school in Bracknell. We take children from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. The children at our school come from a range of multi-cultural and religious backgrounds.
There are currently 557 children on roll of which 19% are eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant. Of these, 0.2% are CLA and 0.2% are from service families.
At Crown Wood School we believe that every child should be supported in achieving their potential, academically, socially and physically no matter what their background. The targeted and strategic use of the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) supports us in achieving this. Pupil Premium funding is used and managed by us to enable us to tailor support for identified children in a range of ways appropriate to their individual needs.
We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils.
We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups; this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.
In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.
We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals.
Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will always be in receipt of Pupil Premium interventions at any one time.
All our work through the Pupil Premium will be aimed at accelerating progress, moving children to at least age related expectations.
Pupil Premium resources may also be used to target able children who receive free school meals to achieve higher levels and to have opportunities that they may otherwise not have.
A curriculum, under constant review, which is designed to offer maximum flexibility to meet the needs of individuals.
Constant staff development and training to ensure that all staff in school are able to provide for each individual child.
A broad and varied extra-curricular programme to offer experience outside of the classroom to all children.
Individual and group support programmes, from highly qualified teachers and well trained teaching assistants, for children with particular educational needs (English and Maths).
Support for children where required from our Nurture provision.
The opportunity for each child to learn to play a musical instrument.
Financial support to ensure that children do not miss educational opportunities due to financial hardship i.e. educational visits, residential visits and after school clubs.
Opportunities for extension and enrichment for more able pupils.
It will be the responsibility of the Head Teacher, or a delegated member of
staff, to produce regular reports for the Governors summarising:
The progress made towards narrowing the gap by year group for socially disadvantaged pupils.
An annual outline of the provision made.
An evaluation of the cost effectiveness, in terms of progress, made by the pupils receiving a particular provision.
The Governors of the school will ensure that there is an annual statement to parents on how the pupil premium funding has been used to address the issue of narrowing the gap for socially disadvantaged pupils. This will be shared through the school website.
