CCTV being installed

After an incident during the October half term holiday, when trespassers gained access to the school field and tried to set fire to the gazeebo in the Year R outdoor area, the Trust reviewed security at the school and identified the need for CCTV.

CCTV will be installed during the February half-term holidays.  The purpose of the CCTV is:

  • To provide a safe and secure environment for pupils, staff and visitors
  • To prevent the loss of or damage to school buildings and/or assets
  • To assist in the prevention of crime and assist law enforcement agencies in apprehending offenders
  • To assist in managing the school

External cameras will be used to monitor the outside of the building, particularly entrances and exits, and the car park.  Internal cameras will monitor the main reception area and the corridors leading to entrances and exits within the school.  The cameras are there to identify criminal activity actually occurring, anticipated, or perceived, and for securing the safety and well-being of the school and its staff, pupils and visitors. Warning signs, as required under current legislation, will be placed at key points around the building.

The use of the CCTV system will be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  The full policy can be read here
